Understanding tree structure is different than understanding tree health, although they may be related. Knowing when a tree or part of tree is prone to failure is an important thing to know, and knowing someone that's able to see those sometimes subtle signs is good to know! Tree Risk Assessments are, in my opinion, a must for everyone with trees near their homes and other structures. It's cheap peace of mind and perhaps the best proactive thing you can do to avoid an expensive catastrophe- or even an expensive but unnecessary removal. That's right, many trees get removed simply because there's no one around to give the homeowner accurate information and, out of fear of the unknown, the homeowner has the tree removed “just in case”. Tree risk assessment can be as much a part of tree preservation as hazard mitigation. All in all, tree risk assessment is just a super important part of tree care.
